Ozsome News!

Have you ever gone to the movies and been like, “Man, I just wish that there was a display set up with a bunch of memorabilia from this movie I am about to watch.” Well have we got a surprise for you! Escanaba’s own Kelly Pepin is possibly the most die hard Wizard of Oz fan in the entire world, and he has generously offered to set up a display with some of his Oz memorabilia at the Old Michigan Theater! This display will include a blown up copy of the original newspaper ad for The Wizard of Oz, at the Michigan Theater, in 1939! How cool is that?!

To top it all off, for the June 28th and 29th showings, Kelly will be there with his display before the movie to answer any questions you may have about The Wizard of Oz, his memorabilia, and what it was like to work at the Michigan Theater in the 80’s. What’s that now? Oh, I thought you knew. Kelly worked at the Michigan Theater and the Delft when he was just a young lad. Yeah, the stars really aligned for us all on that one! If you haven't met Kelly yet, don't worry and don't be shy, he is a very cool guy and we think you'll love him. And just in case you are questioning his devotion to Oz and its lore, please check out his links below.

Also, we have a deal for all of you who read to the end of this post. If you come dressed up as one of the main characters from The Wizard of Oz, we will give you a free box of popcorn. And it doesn’t count if you show up in a hoodie and jeans wearing an old pair of sneakers that you covered in Elmer’s glue and red glitter. Glob knows that’s something I would have done when I was 16. You gotta give it a little effort, alright? And if you read to the end of this post, but you just can’t let yourself do a little cosplay, well…I am proud of you for reading to the end, but I don’t have any free popcorn for you.
